Eyelash Extensions are synthetic individual lashes that are applied to your natural lashes one at a time. There are two different techniques that can be used to apply eyelash extensions, increasing the variety of looks that are possible to achieve.

One technique is called “Classic”. This is the original technique in how to apply extensions. For the Classic technique one individual synthetic lash is attached to one natural lash, one at a time. Due to the application being of only one extension per natural lash it is possible to use a variety of different thickness, some that can be thicker than the natural lash to create varying depths of colour to the lashes.

The second technique is known through many names, either as Volume lashes, Russian Lashes, Russian Volume, Volumation, 2D, 3D, 4D, 5D, 6D, 7D, 8D, 9D. This technique uses much finer synthetic eyelash extensions than the Classic technique. Anything from two up to nine very fine eyelash extensions can be picked up in one go, the technique then spreads the lashes out to create an even fan before being applied to one individual natural lash.

There is a common misconception that this is a pre designed lash or a type of lash rather than a technique. More misconceptions are that Volume/Russian Lashes can be a better technique to use than the Classic technique. This is not true. They are two very different techniques and one is not better than the other, they create two very different looks and both have their pro’s and con’s.

 What do Eyelash Extensions do?

Eyelash Extensions are used to enhance your natural lashes. The synthetic lashes are designed to mimic the appearance and feel of a natural lash and therefore taper at the tip and have a degree of flexibility to them whilst maintaining their shape.

Being a bespoke service, eyelash extensions are tailored to the client’s unique, individual look, needs and lifestyle.

The lashes come in a range of seven different thickness’, four different curls, twelve different lengths ranging from 6mm – 17mm, and a variety of different colours, ranging from the more natural shades to the slightly less natural! Creating thousands of different possibilities.

The final appearance of the extensions is down to the client to decide how they would like them to look and together with their stylist, they can create the perfect design.

How can they improve my look?

Eyelash Extensions can create the illusion of different effects to they eye, such as, the appearance of make up, without any. Or the appearance of more lift to the eye, openness or even creating a more feline look. They can also be used as a way to correct or give a more even appearance to facial symmetry.

Will eyelash extensions save me time?

Most clients find that eyelash extensions can cut down their ‘getting ready time’ immensely and in most cases making them feel like they need less and less make up as time goes on, due to looking great 24/7!!

How long will they last?

With correct application and simple after care, eyelash extensions can last up to 60 days, depending on the speed of the individuals natural eyelash cycle. At any one point in the cycle, every single individual natural eyelash will be at a different stage in its own cycle, resulting in very natural and random shedding of lashes.

Why are eyelash extensions considered Semi Permanent and not Permanent?

The only reason for the term ‘semi-permanent’ is because one’s natural eyelashes have a life cycle of 60-90 days and will naturally shed over time.

Will eyelash extensions weigh down my lashes?

When being applied, the safety of the client’s natural lashes is the main priority. Each extension is chosen in relation to their own natural length, thickness and curl of their natural lashes, in order to make sure no damage is to occur to them. When the Eyelash Extensions are applied correctly they should look and feel as if they are your own lashes, only better!
